Puerto Portals

Portals is a small town in Mallorca not far from Santa Ponsa. It's most famous for its port, Puerto Portals which is about 5-10 minutes away from Santa Ponsa in a taxi. This small marina is easy to miss as just a place for people to dock their yachts, but to make that mistake would be criminal.

Puerto Portals has some of the best restaurants, bars and shops on the whole island, all in a beautiful setting.

A Michelin star is a really big deal in the gastronomic world. It sets the best chef's in the world apart from the ones who are just good. There are six Michelin stars on the island.

If you just fancy a drink or snack it is recommended to check out Cappuccinos. This cafe is the height of style and combines a fashionable vibe with great food and drink. They also serve really good cocktails for an enjoyable evening visit. It is a perfect place to sit on the terrace and people watch....you never know who will walk by, as Portals is very popular with celebrities.

The people behind Cappuccinos also operate the next door restaurant, Tahini, which is a sushi restaurant with chic, modern decoration. The food is excellently prepared and is presented beautifully.

Another very popular restaurant is called Wellies (yes, like the boots). They serve a variety of foods ranging from fine crafted seafood salads, prime beef burgers (being Puerto Portals this burger is made with grade A meat) to the most tender fillet steaks. The prices here are very reasonable for the quality of food and service they give. Wellies operates a smart casual dress code in the evenings and is known to fill up, so reserving a table may be recommended if you are a larger group.

Apart from the ones already mentioned there are many other excellent restaurants and bars in the port all waiting to be discovered.

As well as fine food Puerto Portals is also known for fine fashion. There are many boutiques that sell top designer clothes, accessories and jewellery. You can find the latest handbags next the most desirable watches in the world. The only thing that all the clothes, shoes, watches and jewellery will have in common is that it will all be of the best possible quality (and have a hefty pricetag!).

Of course there is more to Puerto Portals than bars, restaurants and shops. It is a pleasure to just walk around the port admiring the yachts and scenery. The port usually has one or two rare cars hanging about which are guaranteed to delight petrol heads.

Puerto Portals is a wonderful jewel of Mallorca which contains everything you could want for a great evening out and shows a different side of the island compared to the beach resorts. Why not check out Puerto Portals and enjoy what it has to offer.
